Adding to the growing line of Ultra UV Coaters, the Ultra 300Ai provides a solution that enhances the value and vibrancy of printed pieces at higher speeds and also offers in-line capabilities – enabling it to receive output directly from a digital press! Heavy duty yet simple to use, the Ultra 300Ai applies a high quality gloss or satin finish to a wide range of offset and digitally-printed applications, adding richness to its colors while protecting them from scratches and scuffing. Similar to other Ultra models, the Ultra 300Ai features innovative technology for coating both sides of the sheet with a smearfree finish. Print providers can offer double the value by coating both sides of applications, such as direct mailers, brochures, business cards, book covers, and more. The Ultra 300Ai comes with a bridge unit that can be rolled into the output area of the press with ease to deliver documents directly into the UV coater as they are printed, increasing productivity and reducing downtime. The height of the bridge unit is easily adjustable to accommodate the heights of most presses. With a coating speed of up to 148 feet (45 meters) per minute, the Ultra 300Ai can accommodate the output speed from most digital presses and process a variety of paper sizes, from 8.5” x 11” to 20” x 28”, up to 350 gsm. The Ultra 300A model is also available, which comes included with a high-capacity, air suction feeder instead of the bridge unit. High in automation and loaded with features, the Ultra 300Ai and Ultra 300A provide the ideal UV coating solution for any digital print environment! Full In-Line Integration with the HP Indigo 7000 Series The Ultra 300Ai is fully compatible and connectable in-line with the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press series, providing a seamless and automated printing and UV coating solution. The electronic interface provides bi-directional communication that alerts both the press and the UV coater to stop in the event there is a paper jam on either end. Intelligent Control System With its state-of-the-art intelligent control system, minimal operator experience is required as the Ultra 300Ai can be programmed quickly and easily. With the touch of a button, the entire machine is turned on in a programmed sequence. Coating speed, pump speed, cleaning and IR functions are all set from the intelligent control panel. If needed, the coating volume and roller gap can be adjusted in 0.1 mm increments using the two calibration dials. Additional features include: • Auto Gap prevents excess coating from smearing to the backside of the print. The applicator and impression rollers engage only at the start and end of the sheet, ensuring a smear-free and clean finish on both sides. The rollers automatically disengage when there is no sheet or when not in use, preventing indentations or flat spots on the roller or print. |

The Ultra 300Ai delivers vibrant, UV coated applications in an instant. Coating is evenly distributed before passing under the UV lamp – providing a superior glossy finish. The self-centered and self-tensioning conveyor ensures all sheets are delivered consistently flat and straight through the process. With the added power of the Ultra 300Ai UV lamp, the gloss coating will cure faster, leaving a consistent finish with a superior gloss meter reading.
Other features include:
• Infrared heating system helps cure difficult stock with a glossy and smooth finish and delivers a consistent above 90 gloss meter reading (based upon certain laboratory conditions).
Operator Safety
The Ultra 300Ai is CE and UL certified and provides the utmost safety for operators at all times. Safety sensors fitted near the delivery tray shut the machine down when a paper jam occurs. As the sheets are cured by the UV lamp and delivered into the exit tray, the UV lamp’s ventilation draws out heat from the main chamber, providing a safe operating temperature.
• Auto Cleaning makes cleaning simple with the touch of a button. The machine cleans itself automatically as the auto scrapper blade scrapes excess coating from the roller for cleaning. The operator does not need to touch the rollers at the end of the day or turn the valves on and off, making cleaning hands-free.
• Dual Pump enables operators to easily switch between the different types of coating.
• UV Coating Heater improves the viscosity and vibrancy of the coating.
• Variable Pumping Speed offers 3 speeds to ensure the coating is applied evenly and consistently across the sheet.
• Jam Detection Sensors provide error codes if and when a jam is detected, shutting the UV lamp off, thus preventing any jammed paper from burning.
• UV Coating Low Detection Sensors sends an alert when the coating solution in the 5 gallon/20 liter internal tank is running low, ensuring continuous production for high volume jobs.
• Self-Diagnostic Tool helps operators troubleshoot the machine on their own
